UNEMPLOYMENT, A GREAT THREAT TO OUR SECURITY

There are challenges galore facing Nigeria as a whole which if not quickly checked would have  ripple effect on our society. It hasn't been the best of time in Nigeria. If not Boko-haram, it's jungle justice, ritual killing, Niger-Delta militancy, kidnapping, corruption, pervasive crisis, assassination, economic disaster and all sort of social unrest.
Of all the social miseries, nothing is as heartbreaking as unemployment. It is disheartening, disturbing and frustrating. It's awidening time bomb and destroyer of modern day civilization. It leads to depression and despodency. If one struggle so hard to be educated and remain unemployed at the end of the day, what would be one's joy?
Unemployment is at devastatingly high level in many counries around the world and Nigeria is not left out.
From all the statistics available on unemployment from internationally reputable organisations, Nigeria is doing very bad.
Security is a great challenge in this country but we have failed to know the causes. What we fail to acknowledge is that unemployment possess a greater challenge to our security than the deadly bombings of the BOKO HARAM SECT.  Ther's truth in the saying that,'' An idle hand is the devil's workshop.'' The increasing rate of the youth driven criminal acts suggest that the devil is doing his best at job creation.
Unemployment has become a security issue. It's the major cause of the prevalent climate of general insecurity in this country. It contributes to the dramatic rise in social unrest.Having being denied the chance to reach their potentials, they become disoriented and become desperate. Those who cant bear twinge of poverty and low- self esteem after fruitless job hunt become ready tools for violence.
Creation of job is the panacea to youth restiveness and other forms of violence in our country. The media report revealed that some Nigerian youth travelled to European countries specifically, Malaysia to sell their kidneys. According to the report, a kidney cost 10million naira. The pathetic part of the story is that, some lost their lives in the process. If they could do such a thing to themselves, what will it cost them to hurt others?
It's our challenge to end unemployment. War against unemployment deserves great commitment from the government and the private sectors. They should find a way to bring this menace to a manageable limit. Corruption should be eliminated and policies should be implemented to tackle the nightmare posed by  the unprecedented rate of unemployment.
